Gropius

Architectural object
This work from the Avangard Collection is named after Walter Gropius, architect and one of the founders of the Bauhaus. It is executed in dark reclaimed barn oak aged over fifty years, with a central vertical handle insert made of pink honey locust (Gleditsia). Angled edges and an elongated oval opening introduce structural tension and rhythm, transforming a utilitarian object into a restrained architectural form. The wood is left untoned, allowing natural color and material honesty to define the composition.
